Sinking in the waters
Is where his heart now dwells
Buried between the teeming depths
Beneath the moonlit swells

Weeping with the willows
Entangled among the reeds
Strangled by the weight of guilt

Is where his heart now bleeds

His faith in self is shattered
His soul is torn apart
Peace will not be found
Even with the stilling of his heart

Redness stains the water
They all come to feed
The demons won the battle
His shattered soul fills their need

So beneath this moonlit curtain
The shrouds of darkness part
As he finally succumbs
With the tearing out of his heart

No peace in death to be found
For this once noble one
Who fell prey to the demons
And hated who he had become
